Otzma ('Strength') Camps in Israel
Our Otzma 'Strength' Camps are held four times a year for children aged 6-18 during Passover, Summer Break, Sukkot, and Hanukkah. The camps provide children with 4-5 fun-filled days, and allow their mothers, the widows, a little time to rest, knowing that their children are happy and thriving.
The aim of the camps is to create a unique environment in which children can overcome their tragedies together, alongside peers and friends who have experienced a similar loss. Here, children are free to be themselves, to laugh and play together, and to make lifelong friends during their school breaks. Our counselors are all volunteers (some of whom are IDF orphans themselves) and the children adore being reunited with their extended IDFWO family every season.
The camps are meant to be fun and educational and our years of experience help us cater to our children's particular needs. We do our best to provide our children with an experience that will strengthen and support them by helping them grow into positive and healthy individuals as well as proud citizens of Israel.
In addition, we offer a special Otzma Camp for IDF orphans from the Druze community. The camp is held in Arabic and is run by Druze counselors, two of whom are IDF orphans themselves. This Otzma Camp was designed to address the particular needs of Druze orphans by providing them with a supportive space in which they can be themselves and help each other grow stronger.
