The harrowing attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and the ongoing war has left our nation confronted with a profound period of mourning and resilience.
Amid this turmoil, the IDF Widows & Orphans Organization (IDFWO) finds itself at the forefront of responding to an unprecedented increase in the number of families affected by the fighting. The number of orphans in our care has more than doubled in these months, placing tremendous pressure on the growing need for our services in the face of grief and uncertainty that shadows their lives.
As of February 8, 2024, 564 IDF soldiers and 64 police officers have been killed in the line of duty during ‘Operation Swords of Iron’. From the young men who fell defending our country’s freedom, 222 of them are survived by the same number of widows, and 490 orphans. The magnitude of the current conflict has stretched our capabilities to their limits, underscoring the urgency of our mission to heal and support. We are committed to offering emotional and psychosocial support, educational assistance, a sense of community, and much more.
The IDFWO stands more committed than ever to our sacred mission.
